Do you speak English?

I was "studying" in the living room and the TV was tuned on Saudi channel 2. There was a show where two Saudi guys walked around in a mall asking people different kinds of questions, instant prizes and blah blah. Of course it had to be in English, y3ny bza3muhm for non-Arabic speakers.. Awal shay one of them walked up to a middle-aged man in a thobe.
Host: Do you speak English?
Man: Yes.
Host: What do you like best about Jeddah? (since the show was in Jeddah)
Man: 3arabi law sm7t?
Host: Aish akthar shay t7ebbu fe Jeddah?
Man: The beaches.. *stammers* (at this point marra kasar 5a6ri so I did the blushing for him :p)

And it went on like this, the guy speaks English, the man answers in Arabic, the guy askes in Arabic, the man answers in English..

I studied shwya then looked up to see they were asking a philipino guy in pure English. El7mdillah.

After that they decided to spare themselves the humiliation and awkwardness and ask in Arabic 3la 6ool.. but it was still funny, y3ny they asked a girl in Arabic (with a couple of English phrases here and there), she answered in Arabic too, b3dain they repeated the little conversation they just had in English :p okay that's retarded!!!!! You either make sure the person you're intending to ask actually SPEAK English, ask them off-camera, cause the situation the first man was put in was kind of humiliating, I kept thinking that if I were him I'd die men elfsheela, or just speak Arabic all along the way and add English subtitles later on. THINNNKKK!
